The meaning of my middle name, "Kana Loa Ali’i — ‘God of the Sea,’" in Hawaiian, symbolizes how I shape my identity and design philosophy. By embracing the essence of the ocean, I aspire to create designs that cater to a diverse array of individuals, just as the sea nurtures its myriad of life forms, ultimately aiming to be a catalyst for positive change.

    The magazine’s theme is focused on social justice through the arts. The cover features a young Ras Baraka during his first run for Newark mayor in 1994.

    The magazine features 14 stories, with 13 of them mentioned on the contents pages. Credits for the cover are found here. There are seven different sections.

  • House of Barakas

    This story was written by Anya Dillard. It details Ras Baraka’s life, while tying him into the arts realm.

    The back cover carries the same colors found on the cover, and inside cover spreads.

    This story was written by Jacob Amaro. It details an exhibit held at the Newark Public Library.

    This project focuses on facilitating mental health dialogue within the senior citizen population. The application focuses on community and kin, while the pamphlet caters towards healthcare professionals.
